The Clown Jewels toured extensively in the Highlands in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Based in the Black Isle, they burst onto the scene in their brightly coloured double-decker bus and transformed village halls with colourful props, clowns, music, juggling, trapeze and the unicycle.
It wasn’t always easy travelling around the Highlands in a double decker bus. The Clown Jewels once had to be towed from Rosehall to Plockton, and another time they “bottomed out” on the bridge over the Atlantic, with local audience members coming to the rescue.
Needless to say, they got free tickets for the performance that day!
